Pensioner robbed in County Down
Police in County Down have appealed for information after an aggravated burglary in County Down.
An 88-year-old woman was left traumatised after she answered a knock at her door at around 8.30pm yesterday, to find a man, who told her that there were a number of youths at the rear of her house.
The man accompanied her to the back of the property, where she discovered that there was no one there.
The caller then forced the pensioner into her house, where he threatened her and demanded that she hand over cash.
He then dragged the woman around the house as he raided each room, before locking her in the bathroom of the property.
He then made off with an undisclosed sum of money.
The woman managed to escape through a bathroom window and raised the alarm.
The man is described as being between 40 and 50-years-old, of a muscular build, with short dark hair, clean shaven, and a tanned complexion.
He is believed to have been wearing a beige jacket, trousers, a baseball cap, and may have had a Scottish accent.
Police have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have seen a motorcyclist in the area around the time of the robbery, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
