Two arrested in connection with 'terrorist crime'

Two men have been arrested in County Londonderry, in connection with serious crime.

The men were arrested in Bellaghy yesterday in connection with an investigation into suspected republican paramilitary criminality in the province.

Meanwhile, a man has been arrested in County Armagh in relation to "dissident terrorist crime" in the area.

A spokesperson for the PSNI toady confirmed that the arrest was in connection with the seizure of a "massive" quantity of cigarettes in Armagh in November 2005.

The men are all currently being held for questioning at the serious crime unit in Antrim.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of police in Lurgan, Co Armagh, last weekend. Families had to be evacuated from their homes during the security operation in the Victoria Street area on Saturday. Three men, aged 31, 36 and 46, were arrested on Thursday.

Two Men Arrested On Suspicion Of Kidnapping
Police have arrested two men on suspicion of kidnapping. The males, aged 33 and 31, were detained in Co L'Derry. It is believed there arrests are in connection with an incident in the city on Thursday, 26 October. No further details have been released.

Dungannon men arrested in counterfeit probe
Two men have been arrested in Dungannon, County Tyrone, as part of a long-term investigation into counterfeiting. Police carried out 12 searches in the County Tyrone, County Fermanagh and County Armagh areas and said that the two men arrested on Sunday are aged 38 and 39.

Drugs seized in police raids
Four men have been arrested following police raids in Belfast. The men were detained in north Belfast, Newtownabbey and Carrickfergus, County Antrim. All are believed to be in their 30’s and detectives have said they were arrested as part of a pro-active operation against the illegal drugs trade.

Two Men Arrested Over Peggy O'Hara Funeral Released
Two men arrested in connection with dissident republican activity in relation to a number of offences at the wake and funeral of Peggy O'Hara in July have been released. The men, aged 53 and 34, were detained in Strabane on Tuesday by detectives from the Serious Crime Branch.
