Two women attacked in separate robberies

Two women have been injured in two separate robberies in Co Antrim and Co Londonderry.

In Belfast a woman was treated in hospital last night after being stabbed outside a supermarket in north Belfast.

The woman was the victim of an attempted mugging outside a Tesco shopping centre on the Ballygomartin Road at around lunchtime.

The knife-wielding thief stabbed the woman's hands before stealing her handbag and escaping in a white car.

Elsewhere, a pregnant woman has been attacked and robbed in Londonderry on Friday – details of which only emerged yesterday.

The woman was approached by a man on Collon Lane, near the Buncrana Road. The woman was grabbed by the throat before kicking her in the back and leg.

The thief took the woman's handbag containing a sum of money, a gold locket and a chain during the incident.

Police have urged anyone who may have information to come forward.
