Post Office robbed in County Antrim

Police in County Antrim are appealing for information following a robbery at a sub post office near Ballymoney.

The incident happened at Killan's sub-post Office at Bendooragh Road, at around 10.30am this morning.

It has been reported that two men, travelling on a motorcycle, entered the premises and made of with an undisclosed sum of money.

Detectives have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the men in the area either before or after the robbery, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Post Office staff to stage walkout
Further postal strikes will continue today with the expected half-day strike of counter staff at nine post offices. The nine post offices affected are in Newtownards, Bangor, Antrim, Coleraine, Londonderry, Lisburn and two in Belfast. The walkout will be the fifth in a continuing dispute over pay and conditions and will begin at 2.30pm.

Investigation Launched Following Post Office Robbery In Co Antrim
Police have launched an investigation after a post office was robbed in Co Antrim. A man, armed with a gun, demanded money from the owner of Aghalee Post Office at around 9.30pm on Tuesday, 20 September. The suspect made off in a silver Nissan Almera which was found burnt out in Shankill Street in Lurgan.

Belfast to be sole vehicle tax office open next week
Belfast will have the only Local Vehicle Licensing Office open to the public next week as the civil service staff union escalates strike action over pay. DVLNI said it had been advised by NIPSA of continuous strike action by their members from Monday 26 April.

Rural Post Offices get funding boost
Some of Northern Ireland's most deprived rural areas received a boost today on the launch of a £750,000 fund to support Post Office branches. The Government said it hoped the Fund would help sub postmasters to develop and improve services for their local communities.
