Suspected arson attack on petrol station

Police are treating an overnight fire at a petrol station in south Belfast, as malicious.

The Fire and Rescue services and the PSNI were alerted to the blaze at the BP garage on the Ravenhill Road area of the city at around 3.30am.

On their arrival, emergency services found that an illuminated petrol price sign had been set alight and a gable wall of the station was also on fire.

The interior of the building is not believed to have been damaged during the incident.

Detectives at Strand Town have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area at around 3.30am, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Dublin Shooting Victims Were 'Set Up'
Gardaí in North Dublin have said they have reason to believe that the two men shot in a Finglas petrol station were 'set up' to be murdered. The victims, Mark Noonan, 23, from O'Devaney Gardens and Glenn Murphy, 20, from the Drumlea Estate were shot dead on the forecourt of the Tesco Petrol Station at Clearwater in Finglas on Tuesday night.

Petrol Bomb Attacks Target Fountain - Again
A fourth petrol bomb attack on a Londonderry interface has further heightened tensions in the area. The mainly Protestant Fountain estate in central Derry has seen several attacks which have this week led to warnings from both nationalist and unionist politicians that someone could be killed in a confrontation.

Houses damaged in separate petrol bomb attacks
Two houses have been attacked in separate petrol bomb attacks in Belfast and Downpatrick. In north Belfast, a device was thrown through a glass pane in the front door of a house on the Crumlin Road at around 11pm last night. In Downpatrick, a house in the Mount Crescent area suffered scorch damage in the early hours of Friday morning.

Community Fire Station Opens In Omagh
Public Safety Minister Edwin Poots has opened a new £4.4m Community Fire Station in Omagh, County Tyrone. The new Community Fire Station & District Headquarters on the Killybrack Road includes onsite facilities for firefighter training and transport and engineering workshops.
