Pensioner rescued following river bed fall

An elderly man has been rescued by firefighters after falling into a dry river-bed in Co. Tyrone.

Eighty-four-year-old Duncan Stewart was trapped for eight hours before emergency services arrived at the scene at Templereagh Road, near Stewartstown around 7pm on Monday evening.

Mr Duncan was taken to hospital where it is understood he is being treated for chest and arm injuries.

Bus driver injured in knife attack
A bus driver has suffered knife wounds to his arm after being attacked in a north Belfast bus terminal last night. At around 7pm three masked men dragged the driver from his bus at the Westland Road terminus on the Oldpark Road. A struggle unfolded between the man and his attackers who were armed with knives and hammers.

Woman Arrested After Pedestrian Killed In Belfast
A woman has been arrested after she struck and killed a pedestrian in south Belfast. The man, aged in his 30s, died after being hit by a car at around 11.20pm on Sunday. A 34-year-old woman was arrested a short time later on suspicion of a number of motoring offences and is currently being detained by the police.
