Girl remains 'critical' after house fire
A ten-year-old girl remains in a critical condition in hospital following a fire at a house in west Belfast yesterday morning.
The blaze broke out at the house in Woodvale Avenue at around 9.40am and police, fire and ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene.
It has been reported that the girl was rescued by builders who were working at a site nearby and heard her screams.
She was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where she received treatment for serious burns and the effects of smoke inhalation.
It is not yet known how the blaze started, however it is understood that it may have been caused by a cigarette which was not extinguished properly.
The Fire and Rescue Service is still at the scene and officers are carrying out an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Fatal House Fire In Newtownards
A woman in her 30s has died in a fire at a house in Newtownards, Co. Down. The fire occurred at a house in Ilex Avenue at around 5.30pm and the woman is reported to have died at the scene. An investigation into the circumstances of the death is being conducted by police who have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Baby Girl Dies In A House Blaze
A 18-month-old girl has died after an overnight blaze at her home in Dungiven, Co Londonderry. The fire broke out in a bedroom of their house, in Killyblight Road, around 23pm on Tuesday. A fire appliance from Dungiven and two from Limavady attended the incident.
