Police appeal over east Belfast hit-and-run

Police in east Belfast have appealed for information following a hit-and-run incident at the weekend.

A 69-year-old man and his nine-year-old grandson were crossing the road close to the Point bar on the Upper Newtownards Road at around 2pm on Friday, when they were struck by a blue coloured Audi A3 car.

The pair sustained minor injuries during the incident.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident, and would especially like to contact a man and a woman who offered assistance to the man and his grandson after they were knocked down.

Serious Road Crash In L'Derry
A serious road crash has occurred on the Chapel Road in L'Derry. A car and a motorbike where involved in the incident, according to the police. Man Dies In Co L'Derry House Fire
A man aged in his 50s has died in a house fire in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire at a house on Highfield Road, however police said that they don't believe the fire was suspicious. The man's identity has not yet been released.

Armed Robbery On Crumlin Road
Detectives in North Belfast are appealing for information following an armed robbery in the Crumlin Road area on Tuesday evening. At approximately 7.45pm, a man armed with a suspected firearm entered a commercial premises. The man made off with a sum of cash and a quantity of cigarettes and he left on foot in the direction of Bilston Road.

Two Die In Road Accidents
Two men have died in separate road accidents. On Sunday, a man was killed when his car collided with another vehicle on Banbridge Road, Dromore, at around 6pm. A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been released on police bail. In a separate incident, a man, understood to be in his 40s, has died in Co Armagh.
