Two released in Loughinisland murder investigation
Two people arrested yesterday in connection with the with the murder of six men in County Down in 1994, have been released without charge.
The 45-year-old man and 38-year-old woman were arrested in the greater Belfast area yesterday morning and were held for questioning at the serious crime suite in Antrim.
Yesterday's arrests are connected with the Loughinisland massacre, when six Catholic men were gunned down by loyalist paramilitaries as they watched the Ireland v Italy world cup match in the Heights Bar, Loughinisland, on June 18 1994.
Five people were also injured in the June 1994 attack, for which no one has ever been charged, however the UVF has always been blamed for the attack.
Family members of those murdered and injured have protested to the Northern Ireland Police Ombudsman's office about the lack of progress in the investigation.
