County Down school damaged by vandals

Detectives in County Down have appealed for information after a school suffered extensive criminal damage at the weekend.

Police have said that vandals broke in to the science block at Dromore High School on the Banbridge Road in Dromore, and ransacked around ten classrooms.

A number of microscopes, overhead projectors, laptop computers, furniture and a displayed model of a skeleton were damaged during the incident.

The vandals also daubed graffiti on a number of whiteboards.

It is understood that the vandalism occurred at some point between Friday evening and the early hours of Monday morning.

Police have asked for anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area over the weekend, or if anyone may have any information relating to the incident, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

Primary school closed after vandalism
An east Belfast primary school has been forced to close until tomorrow, following an attack by vandals at the weekend. It is understood that a gang of youths broke into an art room at the Strandtown Primary School, on the North Road area of the city, at around 10.30pm on Saturday and went on a drunken rampage.

Graveyard damaged by vandals in Co Down
Police are appealing for information following an attack on a graveyard in Co Down. The incident occurred at the First Presbyterian Church in Saintfield and was reported to police shortly before 9pm on Thursday. Seven gravestones were damaged and 12 clay flower pots smashed in the attack which police described as "sickening".
