Robbery at North Belfast off-licence

Police have appealed for information following a robbery at an off-licence in Broom Street in north Belfast.

The robbery occured at around 8.30pm on Thursday evening. A man approached the cash desk with goods, but when the till was opened he grabbed the female sales assistant by the hair and arm, and demanding money from the till. He then produced a knife and threatened her.

Police said the man made off towards Enfield Street with an undisclosed sum of money and a blue bag containing a quantity of alcohol and cigarettes.

The man described as being around 22-23 years old, approximately 5' 6" tall, of medium build and had a goatee beard. He was wearing a navy hooded top and blue jeans.

Police at Antrim Road have asked for anyone who may have information about the incident to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in west Belfast. The robbery happened at a shop on Caffrey Avenue at around 9.30pm on Tuesday, 27 February. The suspect threatened a member of staff and made off with a sum of cash and cigarettes. He was arrested on Wednesday, 28 February, and has been detained in police custody.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of Conor McKee
A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Conor McKee. Mr McKee was found dead at his home in Glenpark Street in north Belfast on Thursday, 07 January. He had been shot a number of times. The suspect is being questioned at a police station in Belfast.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Officers Believed To Be Covering Up Death Of West Belfast Man
The Police Ombudsman believes officers are covering up the death of a west Belfast man after finding new evidence. John Hemsworth, 39, was attacked in the area in 1997. Later that year he fell ill and died on 01 January, 1998. Before his death, Mr Hemsworth claimed officers had carried out the attack.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
