Police appeal for information on teenager's murder

Police in County Antrim have launched an appeal to help find those responsible for the murder of Ballymena teenager Michael McIlveen at the weekend.

It is understood that Michael and his two friends were chased from the car park at the IMC Cinema on the Larne Road in Ballymena at around midnight on Saturday evening.

The three boys were then chased up past St Patrick's army barracks to the rear of Granville Drive where Michael was attacked.

Detectives believe that there were up to 30 people in the IMC car park between 11.30pm on Saturday and 1am on Sunday, and they have been urged to come forward as they may have vital information, which could help police with their inquiries.

Anyone who may have been in the area between these times are asked to contact the police incident room as a matter of urgency on 028 25 667280.

Alternatively, police can be contacted anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
