Government propose £9m boost for South-West
The government has today announced proposals for a £9 million capital investment into Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for the South-West of the province.
This has been set up in order to support existing services and the new acute and local hospital for the South-Western area.
The proposals are consistent with the HPSS Regional ICT Strategy, which were launched in March last year.
Today's announcement was made by Health Minister Shaun Woodward at the Sperrin Lakeland Trust Board meeting, which endorsed the Outline Business Case for submission to the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety.
Mr Woodward said: “I look forward to seeing the proposals for this very important element in the overall programme for new modern hospital services for the South-West."
The Minister concluded by saying that the proposals are in line with the HPSS Regional ICT Strategy, which was launched last March, and will ensure that patients benefit from the most up to date information and communications technology, equipment and systems available.
He added that the proposal will also ensure that hospital staff are fully trained in its use well in advance of the new hospitals being delivered.
This will ensure a seamless transfer of services to the new buildings.

Carrick Consultants Costing £70K
