Arrests follow disturbances in County Londonderry
Two people have been arrested, following disturbances on the Glenshane pass in County Londonderry last night, during which a number of people were injured.
It has been reported that a number of loyalists travelling on the main Belfast to Londonderry road by minibus, caused damage to a mural in a nationalist area.
It is understood that a farmer who intervened was threatened and assaulted
by some of the men. A woman and her two sons, living in the area were also attacked in their home.
The minibus was later escorted to Magherafelt police station, where two of its occupants were arrested and charged with assault and causing criminal damage.
The pair were subsequently released on police bail and are due to appear in court at a later date.
Sinn Fein councillor Patrick Groogan said that the trouble started when a number of loyalists, who were travelling through the area, damaged a mural.
He said that there were around 30 males on the bus and he understood that drink had been taken. Mr Groogan said: “They sort of went berserk.”
He said that a mother and her two children had been hospitalised after being taken away in an ambulance.

Investigation Launched After Lead Stolen From School Roof
An investigation is underway after lead was stolen and a window smashed at Springfield Primary School sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning. It is understood that maintenance staff discovered that lead flashing had been stolen from parts of the roof.

Police in Omagh are appealing for information after an ATM was ripped from the wall of a local shop. The theft happened at a business premises in the Killyclogher Road area of the town during the early hours of Friday 15 February. Significant damage was caused to the wall.

Renewed Appeal For Help To Trace 21-Year-Old Lee Johnston
The PSNI have issued a renewed appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of 21-year-old high-risk missing person Lee Johnston, from the Coleraine area. Lee was first reported missing to police on the evening of Friday, 13th October and police said that it is "out of character" for Lee to not to have been in contact with his family.
