Newtownabbey robberies may be linked

Police in Newtownabbey have appealed for information on two armed robberies in the town.

The first incident happened at around 9.45pm yesterday, when two males, armed with a handgun, entered a supermarket in Abbot's Cross on the Dough Road.

The robbers threatened staff before making off on foot, with an undisclosed sum of money from the till.

A short time later, just before 10pm, two men, also armed with a handgun, entered a fast food outlet in the Church Road area of the town and again made off with the contents of the cash register.

Police believe that the two incidents may be linked and have asked for anyone who may have witnessed anything in connection with the robberies, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Police have appealed for information following a number of armed robberies at the weekend. In the first incident, a man, armed with a knife, entered a butchers shop on the Springfield Road in west Belfast at around 4pm on Saturday and threatened staff.

Police appeal after Belfast robberies
Police are appealing for information following two separate robberies in Belfast yesterday. The first of these took place in the north of the city yesterday morning at a Bookmakers on the Crumlin Road. At around 9.50am, the manager was opening his premises when he was approached by a man who ordered him not to turn around.
