Fifteen arrested in Derry raids

Fifteen people have been arrested today following a series of raids in Londonderry.

Police have confirmed that ten men and five women were detained on both sides of the River Foyle in a planned operation by detectives investigating serious organised crime in the area.

The raids took place in the Gobnascale and Waterside areas, where a number of homes and offices were searched by officers working under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

This is the second time in recent weeks that police in Derry have made arrests in connection with serious criminal activity in the city.

It is understood the 15 were detained for questioning after 10 separate searches.
