Plane lands at army base by mistake

A Ryanair passenger jet destined for Derry City Airport has landed at Ballykelly army base, six miles away by mistake.

The plane is thought to have been the Ryanair 1425 service from Liverpool to Derry and it is believed to have had around 45 people, including crew, on board.

Ground staff from City of Derry airport were despatched to the army base to help the passengers disembark and were then driven from the military airstrip to the City's airport.

There were no indications that the plane had developed any faults, however Ryanair are expected to issue a statement later.
