Police appeal for information following armed robbery in Newtownabbey

Police in Newtownabbey have appealed for information following an armed robbery in the town earlier this afternoon.

Just before midday, a man brandishing a knife approached a cash delivery guard on the Farmley Road and demanded that he hand over a cash box.

He made off with the box in the direction of Mallusk, in blue coloured car which was being driven by a second man.

The robber is described as between 5' 6" and 5' 8" in height, of thin build, and was wearing jeans, a grey top and a light coloured baseball cap.

The delivery guard, was uninjured during the attack, however was left badly shaken by the incident.

It was later revealed that the cash box contained no money.

Police have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, or have any information relating to it, should contact them on 0845 600 8000, or on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Security guard robbed by knifepoint
Detectives in north Belfast have appealed for information following the robbery of a cash and transit vehicle earlier today. Police have said that the security guard was making a delivery to premises on York Road, close to the junction with Midland close, just before 10.30am, when he was approached by a man armed with a knife.

Police appeal following robbery
Police are appealing for information after "an undisclosed sum of money" was stolen outside a post office in east Belfast. The incident occurred on the Beersbridge Road at around 11am on Tuesday morning during a cash delivery. The delivery man set his cash box down after being approached from behind by an unidentified man.

Police in south Belfast have appealed for information following the robbery of a cash and transit van yesterday afternoon. At around 3.30pm, a security guard was approached by a man carrying a knife, as he collected money from a clothes store in the Castle Street area of the city.

Bomb Alert Follows CIT Robbery
A security alert is ongoing and a Cash-in-Transit driver is recovering after being robbed of a cash box in Co Antrim this morning. It happened at the Northern Bank in Mallusk at around 9am this morning with three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, holding up the security man.
