High-Tech Donegal Start-Up Promises 260 New Jobs

It is anticipated that within the next two to three years high-tech firm AssetCo will have generated employment opportunities for more than 260 people in County Donegal.

The company is to open new state-of-the-art managed service facility in the north west of Ireland.

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheal Martin, recently announced the establishment of a new enterprise managed service centre by AssetCo to be based in Donegal. Supported by Enterprise Ireland the project involves an investment of euro 5.2 million and will lead to the creation of 130 new jobs.

Located in Lisfannon, County Donegal, AssetCo brings together the latest technology in enterprise, RFID technology, and CRM solutions software with advanced communication functionality, to facilitate improved productivity, efficiency and information flow for its mission critical clients.

Due to be opened in early April, the centre will transfer all AssetCo support contracts within the utilities sector. The cost savings that will be gained in developing the centre in Ireland will provide direct benefit to existing and future clients.

The operation will be known as AssetCo Managed Services RoI Ltd, and will complement the existing AssetCo call centre business in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

John Shannon, Group Managing Director commented: "We have been working with Enterprise Ireland and FAS for some months on this project which offers strategic benefits for the region. Like other businesses, our reach is becoming international. The sophistication of the technology and facility at Lisfannon will provide the perfect location for our global expansion. The combined financial investment from all parties in this project is euro 5.2 million. AssetCo, Enterprise Ireland and FAS are already working collaboratively on future projects."

Dermot McDermott has been appointed as Managing Director for the AssetCo RoI based operations.

He said: "We have ambitious plans for growth. This is an exciting project to be driving those plans. The decision by AssetCo to centre its operations in Lisfannon means the advent of a major fleet and managed services sector anchored in the North West with its associated supporting alliances.

"At the heart of our plan is the ambition to create a 'Centre of Excellence' for our sector in the region. The telecommunications infrastructure we have put in place is already leading edge and will, through time, allow the entire business community in Lisfannon and Buncrana to benefit. In the future AssetCo will be pioneering developments in data capture software and devices as well as RFID, telematics, and fleet management design and build solutions."
