Employers' workshops promote online tax returns

Employers throughout Northern Ireland are being invited to a series of workshops hosted by HM Revenue & Customs Business Support Team.

These free workshops are designed to help employers complete and file their Annual Tax Return using the HMRC Online Forms Service or a paper return.

Gillian McIntyre, HMRC Business Support Team Manager, said: “Online filing is a quicker, convenient way for employers to send their Employer’s Annual Return (P14s and P35). Employers who have fewer than 50 employees can get up to £575 tax-free over four years if they file their 2005-06 Employer’s Annual Tax Returns electronically. Our presentations will explain how they can qualify, and also answer questions they may have about any aspect of their returns. These sessions are always popular so please book early, as places are limited.”

The workshops will take place in Armagh, Ballymena, Bangor, Belfast, Carrickfergus, Coleraine, Cookstown, Craigavon, Downpatrick, Dungannon, Enniskillen, Lisburn, Magherafelt, Newry, Newtownards, Omagh and Londonderry and will run throughout March.

To book an appointment and for more information employers should call 028 9053 2755 or 028 9053 2528 Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00pm or e-mail BST.NorthernIreland@ir.gsi.gov.uk

If you cannot make these events there are HM Revenue & Customs’ helplines, which can put you in touch with advisers at your convenience to answer all your business questions: HMRC Online Services Helpdesk from 8.00am – 10.00pm Monday to Friday and 10.00am – 6.00pm Saturday to Sunday on 0845 6055 999 or HMRC Established Employers helpline on 0845 714 3143 from 8.00am – 8.00pm Monday to Friday and 8.00am – 5.00pm Saturday to Sunday.
