Man with fake handgun is remanded in custody

A Londonderry man has been remanded in custody charged with possessing an imitation gun with intent to commit robbery.

Kevin Barry McClintock, 22, whose address was given as John Street in Londonderry, made no reply when charged.

It is understood that the charge relates to an incident when a number of shots were fired by a police officer at the Glenshane Road.

Mr McClintock is due to appear by video link later next month.

No one was injured, but as is required in such incidents the matter has been referred to the Police Ombudsman.

13-Year-Old Killed In Hit-And-Run Incident
A 13-year-old boy has died following a hit-and-run incident in Coleraine. The teenager was knocked down by a car that failed to stop at about 6.30pm on the Newbridge Road on Saturday, 26 November. The boy died in hospital.

Three remanded on murder charges
Three people have been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a 42-year-old man in County Londonderry. Husband and wife, James Meehan, 37, and Brenda Meehan, 38, and her 19-year-old son, Sean Anthony Devenney, appeared at Limavady Magistrate's Court. All three denied the charges.

Death Stalks Roads Once More
The Province's tragic death toll continues to rise with news that a second person has died following a road traffic accident in County Londonderry, police have said. The two vehicle collision happened on Duncastle Road, Newbuildings, at about 5.45pm on Wednesday.

Lawyer considers client's 'overexposure'
The lawyer of a senior north Belfast loyalist has warned that he may report the Chief Constable, Sir Hugh Orde, and an unnamed Sunday newspaper editor to the Attorney General for over exposure of his client. Ihab Shoukri, from Alliance Road, was today remanded on continuing bail charged two counts of being a member of the UDA/UFF.
