Tyre depot fire threatens homes

Residents close to a fire at a tyre and fuel depot in west Belfast had to be evacuated last night as firefighters fought the blaze.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze in the depot at Brookland Grange off the Stewartstown Road at around 10pm on Sunday.

The fire service were concerned about fuel and gas cylinders, including an acetylene gas cylinder on the premises.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Fuel depot fire investigation begins
Fire and rescue services are launching an investigation into the cause of a major fire at a fuel depot in north Belfast. The blaze, which broke out at around 7.30pm yesterday evening at the Hayes depot on the Ballyutoag Road in Ligoneil, has now been brought under control after fire-fighters worked throughout the night to extinguish the flames.

Firefighters battle fire at fuel depot
Firefighters have battled a major fire at a fuel depot in Belfast. Around 70 fire crew tackled the blaze which broke out at around 9.30pm last night at Colin Glen in Poleglass, west Belfast. A single structure building collapsed but there were no injuries and the fire was extinguished after three hours.

Arson attack damages borough council depot
A Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council depot has been severely damaged in an arson attack. Striking firefighters crossed picket lines to help tackle the blaze which severely damaged a substantial quantity of council equipment worth up to £1 million pounds.
