Fourth man arrested in connection with Hollran murder

A fourth man has been arrested in connection with the murder of 49-year-old Thomas Hollran in Carrickfergus at the weekend. Yesterday, police in the town arrested three other men, and a number of searches were carried out in the area.

Mr Hollran was discovered with serious head injuries in an alleyway between Cherry Walk and Woodburn Avenue at around 10pm on Saturday.

He was taken to hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police have revealed that Mr Hollran was ordered to stay away from the town following a dispute with loyalist paramilitaries last year.

Police believe that the victim travelled by train from Belfast to Carrickfergus, and got off at the Clipperstown station at around 9.25pm.

He then made his way on foot to the Woodburn area to visit a family member.
