Pensioner robbed and assaulted in Newtownabbey
Police have appealed for information following the attack and robbery of a 71-year-old woman in the Clonmore walk area of the town on Monday night.
The pensioner got off a bus in Rathmore Drive at around 10.20pm and made her way in the direction of her home in nearby flats.
As the woman entered the communal hallway of the building, she was approached by two men who grabbed her handbag.
The assailants then proceeded to hit the woman twice in the face with it, breaking her glasses.
During the assault, the men also stole the lady's silver coloured watch, however during the struggle she managed to retrieve her handbag.
Police have asked for anyone who may have been travelling on the same bus as the woman, or who may have witnessed anything in connection with the incident, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Elderly Woman's Handbag Stolen In East Belfast
Police are appealing for information after an elderly woman had her handbag stolen from her car in east Belfast. The incident happened on the Castlereagh Road at around 1.55pm on Monday, 26 September. The woman had placed her handbag at the back of her vehicle when a man opened the rear door and made off in the direction of Ravensdale Street.

Pensioner attacked during burglary of her home
A 90-year-old woman was assaulted during a burglary of her home in Ballygowan, Co Down last night. The woman was confronted by a teenager after hearing noise in her kitchen. The youth then assaulted the elderly woman before escaping into an alley at the back of the house. Police believe an accomplice then joined the assailant.

Police have launched an investigation after a woman's handbag was stolen while she visited the grave of her late husband in Co Antrim. The incident happened in Ballyclare Cemetery between 4.30pm and 5pm on Tuesday, 06 March. The bag, which was stolen from her car, contained a signet ring and rose gold wedding ring.
