Carrickfergus textile company to close
Fifty jobs have been lost following the closure of a textiles company in Carrickfergus.
The County Antrim company, Flaxall Limited, was a family run business and has been in operation for more than 60-years.
The firm was responsible for printing, dying and finishing fabric.
A statement released yesterday by management said that, with the cost of manufacturing rising and consumer demand continuing to fall, the company could no longer afford to compete with low cost, overseas manufacturers.
It is understood that workers only found out about their redundancies yesterday.
