Postal strike reaches its tenth day
The unofficial Royal Mail strike has now entered into its tenth day, causing major disruption to postal deliveries in north, south and west Belfast.
As disputes between management and workers remain at loggerheads, the Labour Relations Agency is being brought in to try to resolve the situation.
Over 200 postal workers walked out of work last Tuesday in protest over disciplinary procedures between staff and management and an alleged case of bullying in the North Belfast section.
As a result, no letters posted to areas outside of Northern Ireland have been dispatched and any mail posted in Belfast has not been processed.
It has also affected items being delivered internationally, to anywhere in Britain, or to the Republic of Ireland.
There will also be no more special delivery items accepted in Northern Ireland.
The strike is beginning to have a serious knock-on effect to Belfast City hospital's outpatients unit, which is unable to send crucial information to patients waiting for appointments.
Royal Mail and the Social Security Agency, have arranged for people who usually receive benefit payments through the post, to collect it from their nearest post office on Friday.
Royal Mail announced that it has brought in approximately 50 managers from across Britain to help deal with the backlog caused by the strike.
A helpline has been set up for customers requiring more information and advice on the strike. The number to contact is 08457 740740.

Royal Mail workers at Belfast’s Tomb Street depot are currently engaged in unofficial strike action over the return to work of a manager who allegedly assaulted an employee. Around 350 workers walked out this morning in response to the decision made by Consignia to reinstall the manager to frontline supervisory duties.

Postal workers continue to strike
Royal Mail employees are continuing to strike after almost a week of their unofficial protest. Postal services in North, South, and West Belfast have been directly affected by the action, and many routes in affected areas have not received mail since the strike began last Tuesday.

Postal Workers Launch Strike Action Across The UK
Some 115,000 postal workers across the UK have begun strike action today, Friday, 26 August, in a call for a "dignified, proper pay rise". Members of the Communication Workers Union – which represents Royal Mail Group workers – have started a series of national strike actions.

Consumer Council Advises People To Plan Ahead For Postal Strike
The Consumer Council has advised people to plan ahead for Royal Mail strike action, planned to take place on Thursday 13 October 2022, Thursday 20 October and Tuesday 25 October 2022. Royal Mail is also expecting further disruption during November and the start of December to parts of its business.
