Police step up their search for missing Holywood man

Police in Belfast are set to step up their search for missing County Down man Martin Kelly.

An underwater search has commenced today at Belfast docks, and is expected to last for the next two weeks.

Police divers, boats and sonar equipment will be used during the operation, after CCTV footage pictured a man standing in the area on the night that Mr Kelly disappeared.

The 21-year-old who was a plumber and part-time bar man, was last seen on New Year's Day after spending the afternoon in Pat's Bar in Belfast with friends.

He left the bar alone at around 7.10pm and has not been seen since.

Police have renewed their appeal for information about his disappearance following criticism from his family about not having done enough to find him.

The Kelly family have launched their own campaign, handing out leaflets around Belfast City Centre and around the Odyssey Arena in a bid to prompt anyone with information to come forward.

Last weekend, 100 yellow ribbons were released in the docks area of Belfast and members of the public took part in a walk from Pat's Bar to Holywood.

Family and friends of Martin Kelly, have also launched a website www.ourmartykelly.comin order to gather more information on his whereabouts.
