Fourth person charged over musician's murder

An 18-year-old has become the fourth person charged in connection with the murder of Londonderry blues musician Jim Gilchrist.

Mr Gilchrist, aged 62, was murdered after a night out at a local motorcycle club.

He was last seen leaving the Oval Bar in the Waterside area of the city in the early hours of September 28.

The musician's body was found later that day in the river Foyle.

Two other 18-year-olds and a 27-year-old man have already been charged with the murder.

The teenager will appear in Londonderry's magistrate's court later today.

Man cleared of musician's murder
One of the three men charged of murdering Londonderry blues musician Jim Gilchrist, has had the charge dropped by the High Court. 27-year-old Alan Luukas, a student from Rathlin Drive, Creggan in Derry, was one of three men accused of murdering the 63-year-old as he made his way home from a night out at a local motorcycle club on September 28 2005.

Second man charged with musician murder
A second man has been charged in connection with the murder of a musician in Londonderry last month. Anthony Fahy, 18, from Ashmore House on Northland Road, Derry, is the second person to be charged with the murder of James Gilchrist, 62, on Wednesday 28 September. Mr Gilchrist's body was found in the nearby River Foyle just a few hours later.

Man remanded in custody charged with musician murder
A 27-year-old man has appeared in court on Friday charged with the murder of a local musician in Londonderry last week. Alan Luukas, of Riverview Court Apartments, John Street, in the city, is accused of killing James Gilchrist, 62, whose body was found in the River Foyle on Wednesday 28 September.

Home Of Late Musician Stephen Martin Burgled
PSNI Foyle have issued an appeal for information following a burglary at the home of late musician, Stephen Martin. Mr Martin, who performed under the name Rainy Boy Sleep, was found dead on a beach in Co Sligo on 13 August. He had been missing for a number of weeks prior to the discovery.

Bike found in musician murder case
A bicycle found by police divers in the River Foyle at the weekend is believed to the one owned by murdered musician James Gilchrist. Mr Gilchrist, 62, was murdered on Wednesday 28 September, just a short time after leaving a nearby bar. Forensic experts are examining the bicycle which was discovered on Sunday morning.
