Teenager released after ransom was paid
An 18-year-old man has been abducted and then released a few hours later after a ransom was paid.
Police have reported that the teenager was bundled into a vehicle by a number of men, in the Berwick Road area of North Belfast, at around 8pm last night.
It is believed that the man's mobile phone was taken from him and used by one of the assailants to call a member of the victim's family to demand money.
The relative was ordered to go to their place of work and get an undisclosed sum of money and drop it off at a designated pick up point.
The teenager was then released close to Harding Place, in the New Lodge area.
The teenager was not injured during the ordeal.
Detectives in North Belfast have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the Stratford or Eskdale areas of Ardoyne or at Harding Place, between 8pm and 10.30pm last night to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Appeal After Teenager Attacked In North Belfast
Police are appealing for information after a teenage boy was stripped of his clothes and beaten by two men during a robbery in north Belfast. The attack happened in an alleyway in the Castle Gardens area on Sunday 09 August between 12.30am and 1am. The victim was stripped down to his underwear, assaulted and robbed by the men.

Man Beaten With Hammers In North Belfast
A man has been beaten with hammers by a masked gang in north Belfast. The attack happened at a house in the Canning Place area at around 9.30pm on Wednesday, 20 July. The gang of men forced their way into the property and attacked the victim. He was taken to hospital and sustained injuries to his legs and arms.

Man Assaulted In North Belfast
A man has sustained injuries to his head and body after being attacked in north Belfast. The 44-year-old victim was assaulted after a gang of thugs, one armed with a hatchet, entered a property in the Canning Place area at around 12.45am on Sunday. The victim was left with a number of injuries, however they are not believed to be life threatening.

Two People In Shock Following Armed Robbery In Belfast
Two people have been left in shock after an armed gang forced their way into their him in Belfast. The incident happened in the Meadow Place area shortly before 9pm on Monday, 05 February. One of the suspects was armed with a hammer. They searched the property and made off on foot. A man was taken to hospital to be treated for shock.
