Three arrested in connection with Armagh alert

Three County Armagh men have been arrested following a security alert in the city yesterday.

The men were arrested last night and are being questioned in connection with incident.

Army bomb experts were called to the scene after reports of a car bomb outside the City Hotel.

The device was made up of gas cylinders and army technical officers had to carry out controlled explosions on what was later described as a viable device.

The car is believed to have been stolen from outside a pensioner's house in the Ballyrath area of Armagh on Tuesday evening.
