Harte and Holmes honoured by Queen's
Queens University have today announced their Honorary Graduates list for 2006.
Among the names is all-Ireland winning coach Mickey Harte, who is to be awarded an honorary degree for services to Gaelic football.
Mickey Harte, the man who led Tyrone to victory in two All-Ireland championships is to have his achievements recognised in a ceremony on the same day as his daughter Michaela, who will be graduating from St Mary's Teaching College.
Mr Harte first brought the Sam Maguire home to Tyrone in 2003, beating all time rivals Armagh, and then again last year against Kerry to win the title for a second time.
Another well face receiving honours from the University is TV presenter Eamonn Holmes. Mr Holmes has had an extensive career in broadcasting but is best known for being the face of breakfast television for the past 12 years. He will be receiving his doctorate for services to broadcasting.
Other people being honoured by the University are Chris Patten, the man behind Northern Ireland's policing reforms, CBI General Director Sir Digby Jones, environmentalist Jonathon Porritt and Irish soprano Angela Feeney.
US businessman David Figgins, who sits on the International Advisory Board of Invest Northern Ireland, and Belfast-born Nicky Kinnaird, founder of the beauty product retail venture Space NK, will also be honoured.
