Man released following student threats

A man arrested following a disturbance outside an East Belfast college on Monday has been released without charge.

The man was questioned over an incident, which allegedly involved threats being made on the lives of Catholic students.

It was reported that two men had verbally attacked students who were having a break from their performing arts course at Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education, in the Tower Street area of the city.

A police spokesperson said that the had men made sectarian threats to the students and then left. They later returned armed with knives.

Politicians condemn gun attack on popular student bar
Politicians have condemned a gun attack on a popular student bar in Belfast’s city centre. The condemnation follows news of shots being fired at Lavery’s bar in Bradbury Place on Sunday 7th October around 8pm. No-one was hurt in the attack, in which police say a shotgun was fired at the front of the pub from a passing car.
