Body discovered on Strangford Lough
The badly decomposed body of a man has been discovered on a stretch of shoreline near Portaferry, County Down.
Police were called to the scene after a member of the public who was walking on the beach near Quintin Castle, discovered the body at around 10.30am.
The man is understood to have been wearing a pair of Wrangler jeans and black lace-up shoes.
While the PSNI are to carry out an investigation into the discovery it could be some time before the man's identity is established.
A post mortem examination is due to be conducted in Belfast.
Police added that it is too early to say if there were any suspicious circumstances.

Police have launched an investigation after a man's body was discovered in a park in Co Armagh. The body was found in Lurgan Park on Friday morning and police said they are treating the death as suspicious. The man has not been identified and the PSNI are investigating the exact circumstances. Man's body discovered in Portrush
A passerby discovered the body of a man in an alleyway near to a beach car park in Portrush this morning. Police confirmed that a body had been discovered near the East Strand car park at around 6:30am. The area has been cordoned off while investigations into the circumstances of the death are carried out.
