Parts of Belfast under water following flooding
Parts of South Belfast were under several feet of water this morning following torrential rain.
In the south of the city nursery children had to be carried to safety by their teacher after heavy flooding affected St Malachy's playgroup off the Ormeau Road.
In River Terrace off Cooke Street in the nearby Lower Ormeau Road, four and half foot of water affected residents and motorists.
On the Castlereagh Road, there are reports that raw sewage is floating in the streets after sewers Overflowed.
The M2 Motorway between Greencastle and Sandyknowes have also reopened following flooding.
A spokesperson for the Department of Regional Development said the Water Service had squads on the ground assisting in the clean up operation.
Staff are also working to clear gullies and issue sandbags across south Belfast, she said.
