‘Be Safe This Christmas’ message from Council

Belfast City Council has staged a special information day in the City Hall urging everyone to ‘Be Safe This Christmas’.

The event brought together representatives from a range of government agencies, the emergency services, charities and NGOs to offer practical advice, information and support on a range of safety issues, particularly related to the Christmas season.

A number of the participating agencies used the event to promote specific safety messages and crime prevention advice.

These included advice on food and consumer safety, the ‘Get Home Safe’ Campaign, drugs and alcohol advice, fire prevention, a number of property marking schemes and advice on car crime, domestic burglaries and bogus callers.

The Council used the event to highlight ongoing campaigns about cooking turkeys properly and the dangers posed by the improper use of tealights and the like.
