Over 100 textile jobs to go in north-west
Over 100 jobs are to go at two textile firms in the north-west, it was confirmed today.
Strabane based hosiery factory Adria and Londonderry based Glenaden Shirts will axe 118 jobs between them because of a drop in orders.
Adria said 65 job losses would be in fine gauge knitting, dying and the cessation of heavy gauge knitting. This follows on from July's announcement that 185 jobs were being cut at the site.
Glenaden Shirts said it was axing 53 jobs, a third of its workforce, because of a downturn in orders.
Management and unions will meet next week to discuss the proposed redundancies, which will come in to effect at the end of January.
