Eighth man arrested in Northern Bank case
An eighth man has been arrested by police in connection with last year's £26.5 million Northern Bank robbery in Belfast.
The 40-year-old was arrested in Londonderry on Tuesday and follows on from the arrest of a 39-year-old man in Belfast on Monday night.
Four men are now being questioned about the robbery, while two have since been released without charge.
The arrests come a day after a second man appeared in court charged with offences in connection with December's raid.
On Monday, Martin McAliskey, 42, denied charges of perverting the course of justice, in relation to possession of a Ford Transit vehicle. He was granted bail.
Last week, Dominic McEvoy, 23, of Mullandra Park, Kilcoo, denied charges in relation to the robbery. He was remanded in custody.
The robbery of the Northern Bank headquarters in Belfast on December 20th, was blamed on the IRA, however, both the IRA and Sinn Fein denied the accusations.
While a quantity of money seized by Garda in Cork has been linked with the bank raid, virtually all the money remains unaccounted for and the Northern Bank has issued new notes as a result of the robbery.

Bank robbery charges dropped
The County Down man accused of the £26 million Northern Bank robbery in 2004, has had the charges against him dropped. Dominic McEvoy, 23, a builder from Mullandra Park in Kilcoo, was not present in Belfast Magistrates Court during the hearing.

Police renew murder appeal
Police have renewed their appeal into the murder of a man in Co Down last month. Andrew Cully, a father of two teenage boys from Greyabbey, was shot up to 10 times as he sat in his parked car in the loyalist West Winds estate in Newtownards on 24 March. Detectives want to speak to anyone who saw Mr Cully sitting in his car prior to the shooting.
