Belfast nursery school target of arson attack

A nursery school in north Belfast has been targeted by vandals in an arson attack.

Gaining entry to the building through the roof, the vandals set a number of fires throughout the Holy Cross Nursery School, which suffered smoke damage.

The nursery school will remain closed on Monday. It is hoped that alternative arrangements can be made for the classes later in the week.

The parish priest, Father Aiden Troy, in an interview for BBC Radio Ulster this morning, said that he did not think that the attack was sectarian.

The Holy Cross Primary School in Ardoyne was the scene of a loyalist protest in 2001.
