Business boost for Allen Logistics
Moira-based Allen Logistics has reported a marked upturn in business as a result of being able to offer low-cost guaranteed next-day deliveries around the UK through its membership of the Fortec Pallet Distribution Network.
"Our services are in demand from a wide range of manufacturing and distribution businesses both here in Northern Ireland and Great Britain who don't have either the transport or economic resources to provide a nationwide delivery service to their customers," said Linden Allen.
"For many of these businesses, this new pallet distribution option under the Fortec Pallet system has enabled them to expand their customer base to any part of the country."
The company joined the Fortec Pallet Network two years ago, and has seen its business expand rapidly in that time with the addition of two new double deck trailers. It is one of nearly 60 transport companies in the Fortec Pallet Network operating out of designated postal code areas throughout the UK.
Under the system it makes collections up until 4pm on any weekday from customers within the BT postcode area. These consignments are then trunked overnight to Fortec's pallet central 'clearing-house' hub in the Midlands, where they are then transhipped on to other licensees trailers for next-day delivery to the end customers around the UK.
Allen Logistics undertakes the reverse procedure and brings back from the central hub consignments fro delivery to Northern Ireland postcodes.
Features of the Fortec Pallet service are very much tailored to the meeting customers' requirements 24-hours-a-day and includes timed deliveries, Saturday deliveries when required, a less urgent 72-hour service, book-in facilities and tail-lift deliveries are free of charge.
An advantage which Fortec pallet enjoys over other pallet networks is that it is part of the worldwide Geodis Group, through which licensees can now offer an onward distribution service to and from many European countries.
Allen Logistics (NI) Ltd also offer a number of other services, including: Storage with full warehousing logistics both in Ni and Liverpool; Unit/Part loads to and from the UK via its own depot situated near Liverpool; Daily distribution to both Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland; Weekly groupage services to all Scandinavian countries; Weekly driver accompanied service to Turkey.
