Export success for cutting edge software

Belfast software firm ICS Computing is celebrating the success of a cutting edge software package which has just achieved £1 million of export sales, with a further £1 million projected by 2007.

ICS Computing - one of Northern Ireland’s largest software companies - developed a suite of customer relationship management modules with assistance from Invest Northern Ireland’s Compete Programme.

Developed specifically for distribution firms, the unique system - which has both wireless and mobile applications - offers a modular approach to managing customer information in areas from logistics to credit control and service. It will be added to the company’s existing portfolio, recently re-branded under the name Perito.

“The software’s modular design is flexible and economical, allowing customers to apply the technology to one area of the business, and then as needs dictate, adding further complementary modules to other areas at a later date,” says David Mawhinney, Managing Director of ICS Computing.

“The success of the new Perito modules clearly demonstrates how our ongoing R&D investment has contributed to the growth of ICS and established us as one of the leading software companies in the UK. The Compete programme will remain a vital source of support as we continue to add value to our product range and services in new markets.”

Invest NI’s Compete Programme aims to help local companies become more competitive by helping them to develop innovative market-led products and manufacturing processes. The programme is part funded by the EU Building Sustainable Prosperity fund.

“R&D investment and a commitment to innovation are key factors in the sustainable development of local businesses and the NI economy,” says Leslie Morrison, Chief Executive, Invest NI. “With support from Invest NI through the Compete Programme, ICS has discovered just how beneficial these elements are in the development of new, cutting edge products which can add value to its software portfolio, and ultimately increase export capability.”

Invest NI is currently seeking applications from local businesses for the Compete Programme.
