Police appeal following hammer attack
Police are continuing to appeal for information after an 18-year-old woman was injured in a hammer attack in Co Down on Friday.
The victim was in her Inishargie Gardens flat at about 5pm when a man called at her door and attacked her, hitting her several times over the head with a hammer.
The attacker is described as being 5' 10" tall, of heavy build and wearing a black jacket and black monkey hat.
Police are trying to establish a motive for the attack and particularly want to speak to anyone who saw a blue car speeding away from the scene of the attack.
The victim, who has not been named, has since been released from hospital.

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Police make hammer attack appeal
Police are appealing for information following a hammer attack in Co Londonderry on Thursday morning. The incident occurred at a house in Fairhill Park in Maghera at about 4.45am, when a man was attacked by two other men. The assailants then escaped in the victim’s car, which was later found crashed a short distance away.

Man Shot In Co L'Derry
A man has been shot in the ankle in Co L'Derry. The paramilitary-style attack happened near the Creggan shops at around 7.45pm on Thursday, 07 December. The 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital to be treated, however his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police described the shooting as "brutal and horrific".

Police are treating a fire at a recreation centre in County Down as malicious. The incident happened at a football club in the Langley Road area of Ballynahinch just before 3am this morning.
