Two men due in court on rioting charges

Two men are due in court today on charges connected to rioting following last month's Whiterock Parade in West Belfast.

A 40-year-old man has been charged with two counts of arson and one count of riotous assembly while a 17-year-old male has been charged with riotous assembly.

Both men are due before Belfast Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon.

On Monday, detectives investigating attacks on police during and after the Parade reappealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Police came under sustained attack, which included attacks with petrol bombs, blast bombs and live rounds, during several days of trouble following the parade on September 10.

Police issued photofits of people they wan to speak to relation to the trouble. It is believed these people may have information that could help detectives with their enquiries.

Detectives also appealed to those involved in the disturbances to come forward and to speak to police directly.
