Armed robber targets Antrim newsagents

Police in Antrim are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a newsagents over the weekend.

At around 9.10am on Sunday a man entered the shop armed with a sawn-off shotgun and forced two sales assistants to remove cash from the tills before running off in the direction of the Dublin Road. It is believed that a red Peugeot Hatchback car may have been used as a getaway vehicle.

The robber is described as 6' 1' tall, of thin build, and heavy hooded bloodshot eyes. He was wearing blue jeans; a blue sports top, and light coloured trainers. He covered his face and nose with a black and white scarf and also wore a baseball cap.

The incident happened at a car park in the Little Donegal Street area of the city at around 8.15am, when a man armed with a 12 inch kitchen knife approached the car park attendant.

Detectives are appealing for information following an armed robbery outside a bank in Crumlin, Co Antrim on Monday. At around 2.30pm a man, armed with a gun, approached a security guard as he was making a delivery to a bank at Main Street.

Police have launched an investigation following a suspected armed robbery at a fast food restaurant in Co Antrim. The incident happened at Subway in the Kingsway area in Dunmurry on Sunday. The man, who told workers that he had a knife in his pocket, threatened staff and stole a sum of money from a till.

Armed robber strikes five times in County Antrim
Four petrol stations and a shop in County Antrim have been targeted in a spate of robberies on Friday night. The first incident occurred in a shop on the Rashee Road in Ballyclare, when a man armed with a knife confronted a female shop manager and demanded cash. He made off on foot with a sum of money and cigarettes. No one was injured.
