Controlled explosion carried out on suspect device

A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspect device in Co Armagh on Friday.

Army bomb disposal experts were called to the scene of the suspicious device which was discovered shortly before 5am on Friday following a telephone warning.

The area was immediately cordoned off and families were moved from their homes while further examinations were carried out. The area was later declared safe.

Elsewhere overnight, police in Enniskillen have recovered over £7,000 worth of class ‘A’ and class ‘C’ drugs in the town.

One man and two women have been arrested and are currently helping police with their enquiries following the planned police operation which took place on Thursday.

Controlled explosion carried out on suspect device
A controlled explosion has been carried out on a pipe bomb found outside a house in Carryduff in Co Down last night. The device, which was described by police as "crude but viable", was discovered at around 11pm on Thursday at Muskett Road in Carryduff. Police have appealed for information and said a number of lines of inquiry were being followed.

Controlled Explosion Carried Out On Device In L'Derry
A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspicious object that was thrown into the rear yard of a house in L'Derry. The incident occurred in Ebrington street at around 12.10am on Friday. A controlled explosion was carried out on the viable pipe bomb shortly after 5.30am.

Controlled explosion carried out on device
Army Technical Officers carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious device in Belfast Harbour Estate this morning. The device, which was discovered on the Tillysburn Road, was later declared a hoax. Several items have been taken away for forensic examination.

Controlled explosion carried out on device in Dublin
Dublin was at the centre of a bomb warning today after a pipebomb was left close to the Irish Parliament. Gardai confirmed that the device was left inside the railings of the National Gallery near the Dail. The Samaritans received a telephone warning about the device at around 6.30am on Tuesday morning.

Viable Incendiary Device Found On Police Station Grounds
A controlled explosion has been carried out on a viable incendiary device discovered on the grounds of Ballycastle Police Station, Co Antrim. A second device found has been declared a hoax. They were discovered on the Ramoan Road on Thursday morning. A number of businesses were forced to close during the alert, however they have now reopened.
