Boat owners help sought in in Lisa probe

Police have appealed to boat owners on the Ards peninsula to help them in their search for the body of a missing Bangor woman.

Detectives believe the body of Lisa Dorrian may have been hidden in water and, following a TV appeal on BBC's Crimewatch programme last night, police have urged boat owners in the area to get in touch.

The man leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Dornan, said officers especially wanteded to hear from boat owners if they suspected their vessel had been tampered with in recent months.

"Boat-owners who have either bought or sold a boat privately since the beginning of February this year until the end of May, would they please contact us," he said.

"Also in relation to boat-owners, anyone in the Ards peninsula who owns a boat or keeps a boat in the Ards peninsula, would you please contact us if you think your boat has been broken into or tampered with some time from the end of February."

The 25-year-old shop assistant was last seen at a party on a caravan site in Ballyhalbert, Co Down, in February.

Loyalist paramilitaries, and in particular the Loyalist Volunteer Force (LVF), are thought to have been behind Lisa’s murder, however the LVF has denied any involvement in the killing.

Despite a £10,000 reward offered by the family for information leading to the recovery of her body, no information has been forthcoming.
