Carrick business gets £1.5m workspace boost
Businesses in Carrickfergus received a boost today with the opening of new office workspace at a cost of £1.5 million.
Carrickfergus Enterprise currently manages 35,000 square feet of space in the form of 34 workshops at Meadowbank Road on the outskirts of the town.
Thursday's opening comprises an additional 19,000 square feet, providing a range of flexible workspace units, high-tech office suites and extensive training and IT facilities. Nine of the 13 units are currently occupied by seven companies, providing 15 new jobs.
Speaking at the official opening, International Fund for Ireland Board Member, Helen Kirkpatrick, said: “Encouraging the development of the economic base by stimulating local enterprise and self-employment and by encouraging the growth of small and medium-sized companies has been a key area of activity for the Fund.
"This latest extension at Carrickfergus Enterprise buildings on its successful track record of attracting investment and employment into the area.”
Funding for the project was provided by the International Fund for Ireland (£686,000), Invest Northern Ireland (£100,000), Peace II (£150,000) and Carrickfergus Enterprise (£524,000).

Business park extension to create 90 jobs
Around 90 new jobs are to be created in Co Tyrone thanks to a £1.2 million business park extension. Strabane Enterprise Agency announced the decision to extend its premises at Orchard Road Industrial Estate which will see an additional 22 units added to the complex.
