Two men arrested in connection with fatal stabbing

Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Belfast teenager last month.

Thomas Devlin, 15, was walking along the Somerton Road in north Belfast after buying sweets from a nearby petrol station when the incident occurred. He was stabbed five times in the back and died a short time later.

A friend of the victim who was with him at the time was also wounded in the attack, however his injuries were not as serious.

Police have not released any more details about the men being questioned.

Police treat teenager's stabbing as attempted murder
Police are treating the stabbing of a 14-year-old boy at the weekend as attempted murder. The victim was walking through Laburnum playing fields in east Belfast early on Saturday when he was set upon by a number of men and stabbed several times before escaping from his attackers.

Two men die in separate stabbing incidents
Two people have been killed in separate stabbing incidents in Northern Ireland over the weekend. Hugh McKibben, 51, of Main Street in Carrowdore died in a stabbing incident at a house on Inisharoan Court about midnight on Sunday May 5. Four people were arrested following his murder but three have since been released on police bail.

New statistics released by the Institute of Public Health in Ireland, revealing geographical divisions across the island, show Offaly has Ireland's highest suicide rate. The new report also found suicide rates are 47% higher in the Irish Republic than in Northern Ireland.
