Three people remanded in custody following weekend trouble

Three people have been remanded in custody charged with riotous behaviour connected to disturbances in Co Antrim on Sunday.

Jason Raymond Kirk, 31, of Alfred Street Place, Stuart Kevin Brown, 27, of Brooke Park, Ballymena, and a 17-year-old youth who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before magistrates in Coleraine.

All three are due to appear via video-link at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Elsewhere, a 34-year-old man is to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with posessing a gun.

The accused also faces charges of having ammunition and explosives with intent to endanger life as well as possession of articles likely to be of use to terrorists.

The charges are thought to be connected to incidents in the Highfield area of north Belfast on Saturday.

Extradited man denies murder
A 43-year-old Chinese man who was extradited from Hong Kong in connection with the death of a Chinese woman has denied murder. Wong Sui Ching appeared today at Belfast Magistrate’s Court charged with the murder of 29-year-old part-time waitress Ho Mi Ye. She had been found strangled at her home in Isoline Street in east Belfast in June 1998.

Man accused of injuring two boys and is remanded in custody
A 30-year-old man was charged with injuring two boys in a hit and run incident on January 3 in Belfast. Patrick Joseph William Thomas Collins, of no fixed address, appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court on Monday, January 7, charged with 11 offences including dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm. He has been remanded in custody.
