Protestors block Springfield Road for second day
Loyalist protestors have again blocked the Springfield Road in west Belfast in protest at the re-routing on an Orange Order parade in the area.
Local residents and members of the Orange Order blocked the road during rush hour traffic early this morning in protest at the Parades Commission decision to re-route the Whiterock parade from Workman Avenue through the former Mackies factory site this coming Saturday. Yesterday, up to 20 people carried out a similar protest.
Those behind the blockade say they plan to continue the campaign until the preferred route is allowed by the Parades Commission.
The Commission cited "a possible adverse effect on community relations" if the march was allowed on the Order's preferred route.
