Optimum Real Estate rolled out across NI
Optimum Real Estate, which was successfully launched in North Down last month, is now being rolled out across Northern Ireland and beyond.
The firm offers an alternative to conventional estate agents, operating through its own web site and allowing vendors to sell their homes commission-free.
Owner, Trevor Patterson, a former senior executive at Dungannon-based Powerscreen explained: “Estate agents typically charge between one and one-and-a-half per cent of the purchase price. For a property selling at £200,000 that’s £2,000 minimum plus compulsory charges for ‘For Sale’ boards, brochures and photographs.”
However, Optimum Real Estate charge a flat fee of between £199 and £699 depending on the service provided, regardless of the purchase price. This includes arranging for all press advertising, putting up 'For Sale' boards, creation of brochures, taking pictures and contacting buyers.
Mr Patterson added: “We are breaking the mould in Northern Ireland – there is absolutely no reason why people should be forking out so much in fees. This business gives the home owner a chance to fight back – and we’re already getting a lot of interest in the service.
“We also offer an e-mail listings service and keep customers informed of properties that meet their criteria as they arise,” he said.
The major difference between Optimum Real Estate and a conventional estate agency is that it has no offices.
Mr Patterson says this helps to ensure that his costs are at a minimum, allowing him to pass on savings to his clients.
